LOOPALLU - GOODBYE!

OR NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN?

The 13th and final Loopallu has come and gone. Loopallu is dead - but could it be Long live Loopallu?

Last weekend’s incredibly successful event was supposed to be the very last one and promoter Robert Hicks has not said otherwise, but with the new venue at the pier working out so well, could there be a 14th music festival in Ullapool?

Robert, pictured above, told the Ullapool News, “Well, what a party. What else can I say!” He added, “We knew it would be fun, but I’ve been completely overwhelmed and humbled by the feedback from this year’s Loopallu. Just about every attendee came up to me over the weekend to tell me how many years they’ve been attending, whether a first visit or a thirteenth. Everyone loved the new venue, for which an enormous thanks must go to the Harbourmaster Kevin Peach and the harbour staff for their help and support throughout, as well the Harbour Trustees and all the regular pier users who allowed us to takeover for the past week.”

A local litter picker said of the new venue, “It was great - no mud!”

As well as a brilliant musical line-up Ullapool Book Festival more than filled the ferry terminal venue with Ian Rankin fans plus well attended sessions by Malachy Tallack and Mairi Hedderwick.

Facebook was full of pleas to carry on ….over to you Robert!
