ULLAPOOL NEWS RETAIL PRICE INCREASE
Due to the rising costs of paper etc., and following a very difficult 18 months, we have reluctantly been forced to increase the retail price of the Ullapool News to .60p.

This will take effect from next week, Friday 1st October.

There will be no increase in advertising rates at this point as we know how difficult the last 18 months have been for everyone.
We would like to sincerely thank all our readers, advertisers and the retail outlets who sell the paper for us, for your continued support.

Publishing Success for Ullapool Open Book

For the third year in a row, poetry by Ullapool’s Open Book group will be included in the Open Book anthology. With groups meeting in over 70 locations around Scotland an appearance in the anthology is no mean feat so it’s all the more exciting to announce that five pieces written by the Ullapool group will be featured in the 2021 collection.
Three group poems will be published including On the Edge of the West which was commissioned by Ullapool Book Festival for this year’s online events. Two individual pieces will also appear, Limiting Myself by Alastair Cunningham and Me or You? by Sandy Underwood. Alastair and Sandy also contributed to the group poems along with Madeline Macphail, Barbara Peffers, Jon Miller and yours truly.
These works and many others began life during our Open Book sessions where creative writing is inspired by shared reading. The group will be meeting again on Tuesday 28 September, 2-4pm in the library. All welcome. It’s informal and a lot of fun. Materials are provided and it’s free to attend, just turn up on the day.
