QUAY STREET PLAY PARK
Lochbroom Community Council has been approached by a group of parents about the condition of the Quay Street Play Park, and we intend to make this our next large project.
Most of our residents will be aware of the terrible condition of this park. Much of the play equipment has been removed or is due to be, the ground is uneven and the fence rotten. LBCC would like to hear your views about re-designing the area to create a Community Park with a shelter and seating; new play equipment (including a wheelchair accessible roundabout) and an outdoor gym area – ideas that have come from some of the park users.
For some of our grant applications, we need to show that there is community support for this idea, and if you support this plan we’d be grateful to hear from you.

Opportunity to work behind the scenes on a hit tv-series
A Scottish based TV series is offering 32 people the chance to work on their production set.
The Outlander Trainee Scheme has opened up its annual recruitment programme for its seventh season and are looking for creatives and technicians to begin a career in the film and television industry. Applications opened on November 16 for trainee roles which begin in January 2022.
The roles available for application are in various departments such as painting, rigging, plastering, carpentry, costume, production, and locations. As part of the scheme, new trainees can earn salaries between £433 and £546 in the programme which has recruited for multiple series.

Screen Scotland said:
“Outlander is a commission from Sony Pictures and Starz and represents a significant production spend and training opportunity for Scotland.

“Since Outlander began filming in Scotland in 2014, Screen Scotland, Outlander and ScreenSkills have co-funded a traineeships programme across all departments including camera, costume, design, assistant director, art department, effects and production – to approximately twenty trainees per series.”

What qualifications will I need?
Besides living in Scotland, the Outlander Training Programme supports diversity and encourages applications from across all sections of the community.
No formal qualifications are required, however applicants must:
Normally resident in Scotland (The production base is Cumbernauld)
Be eligible to work in the UK
Be over 18 years old
Have a basic understanding of the film and television industry, preferably with relevant work experience
Preferably have at least one credit from a professional TV or Film production
Have no more than 12 months paid experience within the department they are applying to
Preferably have a full clean driving licence

The deadline for Production and Location traineeships
is 9am, Monday the  January 3, 2022

The Traineeship will commence in January 2022 and potentially run until August 2022 if it is similar
