Subject: RE: The Invershin road from Ledmore closure : Now to March 11.
Thank you for making contact with the Council through Trevor Fraser who has passed your message onto us, Roads matters in Sutherland are managed through our Drummuie, Golspie office with Joanne Sutherland as Roads Operations Manager.
The works to upgrade and strengthen The A837 between Rosehall and Ledmore Junction have been partly funded by Highland Council, The Scottish Government and the Timber Industry under the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme. The works involve strengthening of the road, passing place improvements, drainage repairs and resurfacing of sections of road, this will lead to improvements for the general public as well as the timber traffic.
The road closure is being utilised 09:30 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday with no restrictions at the weekend. Where the nature of the works permit traffic will be controlled and allowed through the site periodically within the closure period.
These STTS works are being managed by Arvikaconsult Ltd. who issue a weekly programme of intended works and I will ask them to add you to their mailing list. They are hopeful that these works will be complete before the road closure is fully utilised but as always they are at the mercy of the weather.

What housing is needed in the Ullapool and Lochbroom area?
Ullapool Community Trust wants to hear from you!
Ullapool Community Trust (UCT) is launching a survey to inform what housing is needed now and into the future.
In partnership with the Communities Housing Trust, UCT is currently seeking to identify possible sites for housing in the Ullapool, Lochbroom and Dundonnell areas. The survey results will help shape what housing is provided, led by the needs and aspirations of the community, and will help ensure the area thrives into the future.
UCT is particularly keen to retain younger people, families and those working in the area, and to provide suitable affordable homes for local people.
The survey is for people who currently live in the Ullapool and Lochbroom area.
The chair of Lochbroom Community Renewables, Rob Gibson, said, “Broompower backs this detailed housing needs survey from Coigach to Little Lochbroom. It must be the catalyst for much-needed building of affordable homes to secure a balanced community here in north-west Ross.”
Ronnie MacRae, CEO of the Communities Housing Trust, said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Ullapool community to understand what’s needed. We think that demand for quality, affordable housing will be high here, and we now have increased opportunities to address this, with Scottish government policies on land reform, supporting rural housing and community empowerment.
“Community-led housing is often the best option in small, rural communities, as it can be tailored, providing a mix of tenures as well as a mix of house sizes. This gives the greatest possible flexibility to residents, while also sustaining local businesses and services.”
