PANTOMIME MEMORIES

160 pairs of hands either starred, crewed or helped (oh no they didn’t..!) in Ullapool’s five successful and entertaining ‘80s village hall pantomimes. Were you there? In that case you should come along to the Pantomime Memories event … for old times’ sake.
If you weren’t there you MUST come along, to learn about and appreciate a bit of local history. It’ll be fun identifying the ‘players’, whether stars or not, and seeing some of the props – including some original makeup … yeuk.
Come and see a picture of you, (or your Mum/Dad/big sister), get a copy of the programmes/cast lists, watch a video, examine props and costumes – all over a cup of tea and biscuits!
The event is sponsored by Cinderella’s Two Ugly Sisters (truly); oh, and the Ullapool Harbour Trust – amongst others.

MARCH is VOLUNTEER MONTH on ISLE MARTIN

There are lots of jobs waiting to be done on Isle Martin to get us ready for spring:

tidying; cleaning; repairs; gardening; digging; clearing and sorting. And of course there is always time for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and the enjoyment of being on our peaceful island.

We aim to have people going over every weekend on either Saturday or Sunday, weather and boat availability dependent!  CHECK our website or community page on Facebook  each Friday for details or phone Lesley on 07500 238 678 to find out days and times.

Ullapool Coastal Rowing Club is doing manure deliveries

Following last year’s successful fundraiser we will be delivering 20kg bags or half ton trailer loads of well rotted farmyard manure from Leckmelm Farm. Deliveries will be on the weekends of 5th/6th March and 12th/13th March.

We are taking orders by email to topher@dawsonullapool.com, text to 07597568210 or Facebook Messenger to Topher Dawson.

In return we would appreciate donations by cash, cheque or bank transfer to a/c 00208714, s/c 83-28-01 Royal Bank of Scotland, Ullapool Coastal Rowing Club.  The funds raised will go towards the travel expenses for the youth teams and the skiff.

New musical work sought to celebrate Year of Stories
This year’s Blas Festival will commission a new piece of music to coincide with Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022
Iconic stories, people and places across the Highlands and Islands will be celebrated this year in a new piece of music to be performed during this September’s Blas Festival.

Weather for Tuesday 22nd – Monday 28th February

The wet and windy spell continued into the early part of the week.
We had a bit of everything, wind, rain, hail, thunder and snow. Ferries were cancelled due to bad ° weather and Covid.
Gradually things improved, the wind dropped, the temperature rose, and the sun came out. The stats will soon be out for February, but locally, although it felt very cold at times, the average temperature was actually 1°C warmer than last year.
As we head in to spring it looks like our first week will be more settled and milder.
Let’s hope so!
