A Defibrillator Unit has been installed at Strathkanaird on the small Scottish Water building not far from the bus stop, along with a plaque dedicated to Hector.
Thanks to Charlotte and family who donated funds to Ullapool Rotary who arranged the installation.
Thanks also to Scottish Water Board and G.A Barnie for electrical installation.

Dear Editor,
Unpaid carers in Scotland are spending hundreds of hours each month looking after sick or disabled family members, often with little-to-no support. Many are being pushed to exhaustion and burnout as a result.
Carers Scotland’s annual State of Caring seeks to capture these experiences and give a voice to carers. It covers a wide range of themes, including carers’ finances, health, wellbeing and more – helping to build a picture of unpaid caring and highlighting the biggest challenges facing our carer population today.
We’d encourage as many carers as possible across Scotland to complete the survey and help generate the evidence we need to make a case for change to both the Scottish and UK Governments. It can be found online at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2XKM3RJ.

Meet the Author event with G R Halliday
Ullapool Bookshop is delighted to announce that Scottish crime writer G R Halliday, who lives in the Highlands, outside of Inverness, will be visiting the Bookshop on Tuesday 9th August from 2-3pm meeting customers and signing copies of his 3 novels in the best-selling DI Monica Kennedy series. His first novel ‘From the Shadows’ was published in 2020 by Vintage Publishing and all 3 novels are set in the Scottish Highlands, with some of the tale in ‘From the Shadows’ being set in Ullapool itself. These dark Tartan Noir books are utterly gripping and are full of many twists and turns, right until the end and his latest book ‘Under the Marsh’ was featured in The Scotsman on Sat 30th July.
G R Halliday will be signing copies of all 3 of his novels.
