Inverlael Project Film – Watch this on BBC Alba
Next Tuesday 30 August, a new film entitled “Duncan Mackenzie: Dìleab nam Beinn”, which features the Inverlael project, will be shown on BBC Alba at 9pm.
In the autumn, there will be a series of eight podcasts about Inverlael, produced by local man and independent (formerly BBC) broadcaster Dan Holland, and dramatized by Chris Dolan, Honorary President.

Linda Michiels who, together with her husband Mike, runs the Pancake Barn at Durnamuck, has been announced as a finalist for the Highland Business Woman’s “Woman of Inspiration” award 2022!

ASSYNT MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM
On Sunday 21st August 2022, 20 members of the Assynt Mountain Rescue team were awarded with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal by the Lord Lieutenant of Sutherland, Major General Patrick Marriott. This commemorative medal is awarded to all members of the emergency services, including volunteers who hold 5 years or more service within their Scottish Mountain Rescue team. The 20 volunteers who received the medal, have between them given over 230 years of service to support saving lives.
The medals were awarded at a family afternoon, held at the Assynt Mountain Rescue base at Inchadamph. Families and friends, supporters of the team, and some old team members met up for an afternoon of drone and dog searching, equipment and medical demonstrations, before the medals were presented in the Inchnadamph Hotel.
Three past team leaders, Willie Marshall, Graham McFadyen and Sue Agnew joined Tim Hamlet the current team leader, who between them have provided 25 years of continuous leadership.
Assynt Mountain Rescue volunteers provide 24 hour emergency support for search and rescue across Caithness and Sutherland.
