The Real Good Dental Company wish to inform all patients past and present of the Old Sick Bay Dental Practice and the neighbouring clinics of Lochcarron and Ullapool, that Lloyd Parsons is shortly to retire after providing Dental services to the area for nearly 33 years.
The Real Good Dental Company are presently on a recruitment drive to replace Lloyd and once a new Dentist is in place patients will be informed so that normal service can resume.
In the meantime, the practice can be contacted in the normal way by letter or phone.

SPIRIT AID – DAVID HAYMAN
As most people had prepaid their tickets for last Thursday’s performance (by David Hayman of Time’s Plague) in The Ceilidh Place Venue there were a number of the audience with no cash on them to add to the collecting bucket for Spirit Aid, the charity set up by David and about which he spoke so movingly after his performance.

Sheila, Audrey and Tina will not be having a cake and sweet stall at the Community Bonfire Night on West Terrace this year. If anyone would like to take the opportunity to raise some money for their local organisation by taking it over please contact either Robert Hicks or Gordon Wink, Ullapool Fire & Light.

Work is under way on the upgrading of Shore Street, Ullapool. There will be disruption until approx. May 2023.

Highland Hospice Vintage Tractor Run 2022
Our annual Wester Ross vintage tractor run, in aid of Highland Hospice took place at the beginning of September, following a 175-mile route starting and finishing in Ullapool, with two overnight stops in Lochcarron and Gairloch.
We were well fuelled by Russell and staff at The Clubhouse before departing Ullapool with ominous skies above. After a couple of breakdowns, and having found Aultguish closed, the ladies at Inchbae Lodge went above and beyond, providing lunch for us at very short notice. Lochcarron Hotel provided our base for the night and after some food (but no pudding!) and some rest, we were back on the road, enjoying the dramatic scenery surrounding us before stopping for a cuppa in Shieldaig, before continuing through glen Torridon to Kinlochewe for a lunch stop, only encountering one grumpy cyclist!
Upon arrival in Gairloch, after a stop at the pier, it was on to Strathburn House in Strath, allowing some of the residents to relive their youth as they appreciated a look at the various restored tractors. Gairloch Garage kindly allowed us space to park, and even managed to supply a part for one of the tractors, which was very much appreciated! Gairloch Hotel was home for the night with very comfortable surroundings and a superb meal.
Saturday morning brought glorious sunshine and another four tractors joining in for the final leg of the run. On to Poolewe (in short sleeves!), before Mairi and Susan called us in for donations and a very kind hot drink for all the drivers. Isle View Nursing Care Home was our next stop, with residents enjoying the sunshine, the tractors and the craic. Stops were regular on Saturday to allow time to take in the beauty of our part of the world, drenched in sunshine and the late summer colours.
Linda and Mike at the Pancake Barn in Durnamuck once again went the extra mile, and we were well catered for. You simply cannot pass Camusnagaul on a tractor without calling in to Helen’s home, with its open doors and generous, warm, west Highland hospitality – full as whelks we were as we climbed back aboard for a quick stop at Keppoch Farm, before the final run back to Ullapool, culminating with all tractors on the pier.
We are very thankful to everyone who was so very generous, even at a time when every penny counts, for giving so generously to this worthy cause. Our final total for the run, collected in our buckets was £1,110.
