Santa Float
The RWM, Office-bearers and members would like to thank everyone for supporting the 2022 Santa Float. We would like to express our gratitude to Alistair and Iris Fraser, Tesco Supermarket, the Ullapool News Team. We would also like to thank all of Santa’s Helpers who do a wonderful job.
100% of the monies from the Santa Float are used for the Children of the village and surrounding areas, thank you all for your support.

2023 Calendars and Diaries for Prisoners
It’s that time of year when some of us end up with more calendars and diaries than we need! Once again, St Mary’s Church is asking for any spare 2023 calendars and diaries for the prison in Inverness for distribution among those serving sentences there.
Keeping track of passing time – as well as being able to look ahead to a prospective release date – is important for many of the men there, and the chaplains very much appreciate having these to give away. However, please note that we cannot donate any containing pictures of children.
Donations can be placed in the mailbox by the church door in Market Street or given to a member of the congregation to pass on to me. Many thanks. Rev’d Dr Clare Caley (tel: 612848).

Ullapool Harbour Trust
Shore Street Project Update
The works have progressed well in the past few weeks. Piling is now complete, long reach digger dredging and rock armour revetment placement continue daily, the sea wall is taking shape and the pile cap shuttering is well developed. The contractor will finish work on Friday 23rd for two weeks, returning to site 9th January 2023. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the contractor RJ McLeod and their workforce for their hard work in delivering a tricky project efficiently with minimal impact to village life.

UCT Home Energy Efficiency Project – community consultation
Home energy costs are going up and up, causing concern for many households in our area.
It would be great to make our homes more energy efficient, so we can reduce our energy bills and our carbon emissions.
This is why Ullapool Community Trust is considering applying for funding for a community energy efficiency project.
The project would offer energy efficiency advice that is tailored to individual homes and circumstances. Trained, local experts would identify the most effective ways to reduce your energy bills for your type of home.
But we need to know if the Lochbroom and Ullapool community is supportive of the idea. So please take a few minutes to respond to this survey. There are only nine questions, so it won’t take long!

OXFAM DONATIONS
Many thanks to everyone who has left clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, books, CDs, toys etc at our house over the past year for delivery to the Oxfam shop in Lombard Street, Inverness. Second-hand donations or unwanted Christmas presents are all much appreciated and the proceeds from selling them fund the many projects worldwide in which Oxfam is involved. These range from emergency help following natural disasters, including those caused by the climate crisis, and conflicts; providing water, food and shelter; to supporting communities in their efforts to re-build their lives.
You can leave items (in reasonable condition please) in the front porch of 5, Pulteney Street, Ullapool any time. Further information from 01854 612940.

ULLAPOOL GARDEN OF REFLECTION
We would like to thank all those who braved the weather and came to the Ullapool Garden of Reflection on Friday 16 December.
It was amazing to see the tractors all lit up, they looked beautiful, wouldn’t it be special if we could make the event an annual occasion, watch this space…._!_ _The garden looked so pretty, and the hot beverages and mince pies were very welcome. We managed to sing carols together, which was a feat, as so many vocalists couldn’t make it. Thank you to all those who contributed your help or supplies, lights, utensils, mulled wine, or vocal support, we really appreciate everyone’s continued support, and we wish you all a peaceful Christmas and new year.

The Rotary Club of Ullapool would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Giving Tree and Christmas Hamper collection this year at TESCO.
Special thanks to TESCO staff and the volunteers who braved the cold at the door. Over the two days of 16th and 17th December £696 and 23 boxes of food were donated. In addition, a further £335 was raised at the Golf Clubhouse on Saturday 17th, when Rotary, the Leisure Centre and the Harbour House enjoyed a Christmas night out.
All these donations will be distributed by the Church of Scotland to a network of 22 families and some others who are finding things difficult at this time of year.
Well done Lochbroom you have stepped up again.
