Sad to share news of the death of John Macrae at Raigmore on Saturday 11th March, aged 63.
Son of Willie Macrae and Margaret (née Scott). Husband to Mary, father of Struan and Kieran, and brother to Murdo, Harry and Noel. A good friend to many.
Thanks to those who have been helping over recent times.

The Ullapool News received the following from the Parklands Care Homes Director of Communications on Thursday 9 March:
I can confirm that the last three remaining residents have today been safely transferred from Mo Dhachaidh care home.
Discussions on the future of the building are continuing.
Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes said: “I am grateful to the team at Mo Dhachaidh who, with the support of NHS Highland, have managed this difficult process with grace and compassion. Our priority has always been the safety and well-being of the residents; while we are desperately sad to lose them, we take some comfort from the fact that they have been safely transferred to new homes where they will continue to receive the care they require.
“I know that our decision to close Mo Dhachaidh has been a disappointment to many in the community. It is not the outcome we would have wished for. As someone who founded Parklands due to my own experiences caring for my grandfather, I take this closure decision very personally and I feel for everyone affected.
“No decision has been made on the future of the building itself. However, I have made it clear that we have no intention of profiting from the sale of Mo Dhachaidh. We are continuing to have discussions with the local community to determine the best course of action for the future of the building.

WARM SPACES
The Parish Hub is offering a FREE safe, warm and welcoming space for people to come and stay warm every Monday, Thursday and Friday 10-2PM starting on January 16th.
Soup and a roll or homebaking, Hot & Soft Drinks will be available during that time. Come along bring a book or take a book, puzzles, read the paper, some board games, or just chat with friends. The Parish Hub Project has been awarded a grant to help people with their soaring electricity bills. Through no fault of our own many of us are struggling to make ends meet in a way perhaps we haven’t before. We all need a little help sometimes, if we can help you in some way please do get in touch via call or pop in to the Warming Space to have a chat. If you or someone you know is in genuine need, please contact us. No one in our community need go cold or hungry.

LOCAL WEATHER REPORT
Weather for Tuesday 7th to Monday 13th March Max temp 5.6C = 42F min temp -7.5C = 18.5F
The snow arrived and we had showers but then it was mostly fine with some really nice sunny days. It was cold by night though and we reached the lowest of the year to date and indeed most recent years.
By Monday it was a bit milder with rain but a return to freezing temperatures was on the cards.

Seed Swap update – a phenomenal first week
We are thrilled to report that, despite the restricted opening hours last week at the Library, our 10th Anniversary Seed Swap had an incredibly successful first week. In just those few short hours, more seeds were swapped than in the whole two weeks last year!
A big thank you to everyone who sampled and swapped seeds, especially those who brought along their own saved seed. Thanks also for your generous donations, cash and online.

A selection of our seeds – Seed Swap in a box – will be on display at the Leckmelm Spring event. Watch this space for details!
Finally, just a quick note to say that TBI Potato Day was a great success attracting over 400 visitors, and selling out of several of the Potato varieties on they had on offer.
Just a pity the weather isn’t very conducive to any growing at the moment!!
But, as our seed stock has been replenished for this second week, keep on thinkIng about and swapping your seeds…….
The sun will shine on all of us eventually!
