Who won a Silver medal at the ScottishChampionships in Grangemouth on 13 th August .
With a personal best long jump of 7.84m

Ullapool Sea Savers have launched their Eco Rocks Campaign
They have hidden painted rocks and pebbles for people to find, read the tip on the reverse, take photos, share them and then hide the rocks again for others to find .

Quay Street Play Park
Lochbroom Community Council are delighted that the Quay Street Play Park is now open and we hope will be enjoyed by the children of the village for many years to come. It was a large project for the Community Council, approved play equipment and safety surfacing is not cheap and the clearing of the site and groundworks was a massive undertaking. We think the new fencing with the self-closing gates are great and hope the shelter will provide a comfortable seating area alongside the picnic table and benches.
The total costs of the project were nearly £100,000 which was raised through many grant applications and some ‘works in kind’. We are so grateful to the following organisations for their generosity and the assistance they provided:
The Rodel Foundation/ Inverbroom Estate; The Highland Council – Community Regeneration Fund; Scottish Sea Farms Heart of the Community; Scottish & Southern Electrical Networks; RJ Macleod Ltd; Ullapool Harbour Trust; UCT Community Benefit Fund; North Highland Initiative; CORRA Foundation; Wester Ross Fisheries; Lodge St Martin 1217; Bruce Wake Disability Fund; Tesco Bags of Help; LHD Ltd; Steven Bellshaw Contracting Ltd; D R MacLeod; Ullapool Rotary Club.
The contributions from individuals were really welcomed as these
projects depend on showing community support, and we’re very grateful
to everyone for their help, and for the ‘hands-on’ help for clearing the site & putting together the shelter.
The layout of the park allows for future development and thought might be given in the future to Phase 2 – perhaps some outdoor gym equipment….we’re sure users of the park will have plenty of ideas.
Quay Street Play Park is the final (and largest) development that the current Community Council has focused on, having added equipment to the Morefield Park and refurbished the Vyner Place Park. Our aim is to encourage healthy, active outdoor play for children, and at Quay Street especially we hope to provide a meeting and socialisation area for everyone.
