THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF SHORE STREET AND SHORE QUAY BY ROSEANNE ROSS
Ullapool celebrated the completion of the redeveloped Shore Street and inner harbour at an official opening event on Saturday 30th September. The redevelopment has included the widening of Shore Street, a new seafront promenade, new ramps to improve accessibility, resurfaces lanes and renewed street lighting. The work also provided an expansion to the small boat provision in the harbour.

NEW BUS SERVICE FOR UHS PUPILS – STARTING MONDAY 23 OCTOBER
Funding has been secured for an extra bus service to enable more young people to access activities in Ullapool a couple of evenings a week (in term time). The bus needs booking in advance via yvonne.boa2@highlifehighland.com. The bus is timed to support those who attend Swim Club on a Monday and Pipe Band on a Wednesday, but is open to anyone of high school age.

120 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK:
The Fowler Memorial Clock was installed on Quay Street, Ullapool. Sir John Fowler of Braemore died in 1899. Most guidebooks say that the famous clock in his memory was installed in that same year. However, it actually took four years, due to decisions needing to be made on whether to have a public memorial and what it should be, followed by fundraising, design and manufacture.
