We celebrate 51 years of our local newspaper this week with a special cover page.
Whilst searching back copies of the Ullapool News for items about fishing/klondykers to tie in with Ullapool Museum’s January project, we found an article originally printed on 9th February 1974 – same date as today’s issue but 50 years ago. So as we did not celebrate our 50th anniversary last year in any way we decided this week we would highlight our 51st Anniversary instead.
The Ullapool News was established 10 February 1973.
It began life as a 2 sided, A3 sized, typed and roneo-ed newsheet!
Registered as a newspaper an archive is lodged with the British Library.
