Ullapool’s very busy office will be closed at some point in the next two years, at present it is open all year round and has very knowledgable staff who assist thousands of visitors to make the most of their holidays in our wonderful area.

Good News – A&I Butchers will operate a pop up shop soon in Ullapool.

222 YEARS OF POST OFFICE!
Ullapool Post Office was first opened in 1802. the Caledonian Mercury newspaper published this short report in late July of that year.
” General Post Office, Edinburgh July 24 1802. Notice is hereby given that, from and after the first of August, a Post Office will be established at each of the following places, viz Ullapool on the west coast of Ross-shire, Carinish inUist on the Long Island, and Arisiag to the westward of Fort William. these establishments are intended not only for the accommodation of the inhabitants of these remote districts but also to facilitate the conveyance of information to the Captainsof those vessels who are employed in the herring fishery on the west coast of the Highlands of Scotland…. The mails will be made up and dispatched from Edinburgh for Ullapool every Monday morning at eight a.m. …..”
