HIGHLAND COUNCIL WASTE AND RECYCLING SERVICE IS CHANGING
Each property is being supplied with a new grey bin, and the current blue and green ones are now sorted in a ‘twin-stream’ collection system.
All bins should be clearly labelled by Highland Council explaining what goes in which bin. Households will also have received leaflets explaining the new collections and a calendar of collection dates.
Any visitors to the village should note that glass is not put in household bins, there are glass collection points in the main Latheron car park.

An Talla Solais’s Art Library at the Doctors
From this week – An Talla Solais will have a pop up collection of books on display in the Waiting Room of the Medical Centre on North Road, for people to browse whilst they are there. This small collection of books is a taster of the Art Library which will open in the An Talla Solais Gallery on Market Street later in May.
The An Talla Solais Library will be open during exhibition times as a reference library and a place to sit and read. An Talla Solais Members will be able to borrow books for 3-week period.

NEW FINDS AT CULLODEN BATTLEFIELD SHED MORE LIGHT ON INTENSITY OF BATTLE
National Trust for Scotland archaeologists unearth large quantities of musket balls, grapeshot and an intriguing damaged buckle.
Latest investigations by National Trust for Scotland archaeologists at Culloden Battlefield have recovered a wide range of artefacts, including a buckle they believe to be the shoe buckle of Donald Cameron of Lochiel, who led the 400-strong Camerons regiment into the battle. The large number of musket balls and grapeshot unearthed by the conservation charity’s archaeologists and volunteers in a small 60 sq m area close to the Government frontline, vividly illustrate the intensity of the fighting on the Jacobite right wing. The charity has revealed the findings, made during test pit excavation and metal detecting, as it marks the 278th anniversary of the battle on 16 April 1746, which saw around 1600 men killed in less than an hour.
