Up here in the northwest we have had some snow to bring in the month of January.
Elphin recorded -12 on Thursday night.
Our weather reporter summed up the holiday period as follows:
The run up to Christmas was wet and windy, easing off a bit for 25 & 26th Dec, temperature very mild. A short lull then another very wet period coming up to New Year, turning colder with snow and frost. 219cm rain over the period (8.5 in ). Some form of precipitation on 18 out of 19 days.
North of Scotland stats for December ——- Mean temp +2C rainfall +63% and sunshine -46%
Ullapool December rainfall 264.6mm, highest since 2020.

Stac Pollaidh carpark has reopened with a total of 78 spaces instead of 20. There are now daily parking charges, payable by contactless, ApplePay or cash and spaces are not suitable for towed caravans. For regular visitors you can get annual permits.
