£500,000 funding for the Save Our Screen Machine campaign
Funding has been announced enabling an order to be placed for a new Screen Machine mobile cinema serving rural communities across Scotland.
The £500,000 Scottish Government grant allows Regional Screen Scotland (RSS) to order a new vehicle to take films to 44 locations in areas including the Highlands and Islands, Moray and North Ayrshire.

MAREE TODD RE-SELECTED AS SNP CANDIDATE FOR CAITHNESS, SUTHERLAND & ROSS
Maree Todd, the current MSP for Caithness, Sutherland & Ross, has been officially re-selected by local SNP members to stand as the party’s candidate in the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections.
Commenting on her selection, Maree Todd MSP said: “It has been the privilege of my life to represent the people of Caithness, Sutherland & Ross over the past four years. I am deeply honoured to have once again received the support and trust of local SNP members, and I am delighted to stand again as the constituency candidate in the next year’s Scottish Parliament election.”

Coigach Sail & Oar Gathering, 4th May.
The afternoon of Sunday 4th saw a flotilla of traditional working boats in magnificent full sail and five St Ayles rowing skiffs with straining oars make a spectacular circumnavigation of Tanera Mòr, in company.
A strengthening northerly challenged both sail and oar as the schooner Spirit of Falmouth from Cornwall, the two Tanera Scottish herring luggers, St Vincent and Clan Gordon, and five St Ayles rowing skiffs – Coigach Lass, Lily Rose, and boats from Helmsdale, Strathpeffer, and Ullapool – circled the island.
Thanks must go to the five local safety boats in attendance. One, under Skipper Kevin Peach, featured crewman Joe Peach on the pipes to set the event off. It all made a fine and exhilarating experience for both participants and spectators.
