DOLPHIN ARTS PROJECT NEWS UPDATE
For the past few weeks the Dolphin Arts Project participants have been busy creating life sized moped facades from recycled cardboard, paint, tape and a bit of dolphin magic. These retro inspired artworks were on display at a fundraising stall they had at the Classic and Custom Motorcycle Fair where people were invited to dress up and have their photos taken standing behind these ‘custom made’ Scooters!

The mopeds are also being used as stage props for the High School Production of Much Ado about Nothing, Macphail Centre at 7.30pm on Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th June.

Community Reflects on Hector’s First Launch as Final Push Begins to Set Sail
Pictou, NS – On July 12, 2025, history will make waves once more as the Ship Hector replica returns to the water in a spectacular public event dubbed The Big Splash. Two decades after the original launch in 2000 and after five years of meticulous restoration, thousands are expected to gather on the Pictou waterfront to witness this rare and emotional moment in Nova Scotia’s story.

4. Matters Arising from the minutes:
i. STAC POLLAIDH CAR PARK. Work has started on the toilet block.  It looked as if there had been the usual overnight parking by motorhomes which we had reported to Dougie Baird at Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland. He introduced us to the newly appointed manage of the carpark, Ali Campbell. They are looking at measures to prevent overnight parking, possibly CCTV and asked us to monitor numbers parked up late at night or early morning.

Highland Council — Cruise ship levy will mitigate tourism pressures and support infrastructure
The Highland Council has issued its support to a Scottish Government proposal to give local authorities the power to create a cruise ship levy in the area.
A meeting of the council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee on Thursday (29 May) heard that such a levy could provide additional funds to mitigate the impacts of tourism and ensure the area remains a world leading and sustainable tourism destination.
