The SSEN cable to go through Little Loch Broom- which is a Marine Protected Area.
Major Concern over this proposal. A change in the application.
Capacity has increased to 1.8 GW from 600mw Original cable to be laid on the seabed with a cast iron armour surrounding it, now in the new application proposal is to cut a trench – seabed liquified with jet to 1.5 m depth, 2-3 m across, cable laid in trench and then back filled. Cutting through large Maerl Bed, flame shells, feather stars and migrating salmon, plus a flapper skate colony.
A very expensive project with little benefit to local economy.
