A rainy but Orchid-filled day at Mungasdale and Durnamuck
Despite the wet weather we had a successful field day and were made to appreciate what a very Orchid-rich area we live in. We found seven, possibly eight or even nine species (two still need confirming) and two hybrids. Not bad.
The next field meeting of the Loch Broom Field club meeting will be on the 24 of August in the Geopark with Pete Harrison, and there will be a Fungus Foray with John Hedger and Bruce Ing on the 13 of September at 10.30 in Lael Forest Garden.

Formal intimation under the Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993
Notice is hereby given that The Scottish Wildlife Trust has applied to the Scottish Land Court for an order authorising resumption of 0.040 hectares or thereby of the Common Grazing of the Townships of Achiltibuie, Acha-Braighe, Ach-An-Inbher, Achduart, Achlochan & Achnacarnan. The purpose of resumption is to gift the said area to Coigach Heritage to be used as the site of a memorial to the Crofting Women of Coigach.

Community Countdown Begins for the July 12th Celebration in Pictou Harbour
PICTOU, NOVA SCOTIA — With just over two weeks until the long-anticipated relaunch of the Ship Hector, final preparations are now underway to ready both vessel and community for this once-in-a-generation event.
On Saturday, July 12, Pictou will come alive as thousands gather to witness the iconic tall ship return to the water. The launch will mark a major milestone in the $4 million restoration effort, and a proud moment in Nova Scotia’s shared cultural and maritime story.
Visit Ullapool Museum to learn about the departure and voyage of the Hector from Clachan, Lochbroom in 1773.
