Well after a 6 year hiatus Ullapool Oddballs returned not with a bump, or a bang but with an almighty BOOM! The organising team had 40 team sheets printed in the hope we would have 30 teams ready and raring to take part on a glorious Saturday evening. However the turnout far surpassed our expectations (and available team sheets!) and we had an incredible 59 teams take part! Cue the calamity and the wacky racers were off! With wheelchairs, campervans, Mariokarts and scooters toured Ullapool in style in an attempt to bring home one of the available prizes on the night. Gathered at The Arch Inn and jiving away to the tunes of DJ Gary Tuach, the winners were revealed –

“It is like a dream” – Concert and Conversation at Clachan

Local musicians Christy Okie and David Bastow kindly volunteered to perform a fundraising concert for Clachan’s benefit. We are very happy to report that Friday afternoon’s concert was a great success on several levels – musically, of course, socially, and for Clachan’s funds. Christy and David were joined by Tassie Angell in a programme of piano, flute and cello pieces, ranging from a Randy Newman song “Louisiana 1927”, through Chopin, Mozart and Rocherolle.The theme connecting the pieces was the idea that the composers needed a haven from the stresses arising from a lack of a settled life. And the answer to stress is Clachan!
