Vandalism at Ardvreck Castle, Assynt
The Charity Historic Assynt has reported that visitors have torn down part of the historic structure to create a path for easier access to the castle without getting their feet wet. This behaviour has led to the destruction of the wall, which is an original feature of the 15th century castle. Highland Council Rangers have also reported thefts from the donations box and illegal camping within the area of the castle. Despite frequent monitoring by Rangers and the police, these acts of vandalism are still occurring.
The charity has expressed disappointment and urged visitors to respect the site’s history. The repairs for the damaged wall have been funded by Historic Environment Scotland, and additional signage and QR codes have been added to the area to encourage visitors to treat the ancient site with respect.

Shop ‘til you drop and support local charities with free Christmas Park & Ride
Inverness shoppers will benefit from a free Park & Ride service this festive season, thanks to a joint initiative from The Highland Council, Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and the Inverness Common Good Fund.
Running from 29 November to 28 December, the new weekend Park & Ride service will make it easier for shoppers to access the city centre. Visitors can leave their cars at Sarens PSG Stadium on the edge of town, and catch a free shuttle bus to Farrarline Park Bus Station, just off Academy Street. Buses will operate every 10 minutes from 9am to 6.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The service is free to use, but voluntary donations are encouraged in support of two local charities: Highland Hospice and MFR Cash for Kids.
The shuttle services will be operated by D&E Coaches with funding from the Transport Scotland Behaviour Change Fund.
