2026 Calendars and Diaries for Prisoners
It’s that time of year when some of us end up with more calendars and diaries than we need! Once again, St Mary’s Church is asking for any spare 2026 calendars and diaries for the prison in Inverness for distribution among those serving sentences there.
Keeping track of passing time – as well as being able to look ahead to a prospective release date – is important for many prisoners, and the chaplains very much appreciate having these to give away. However, please note that we cannot donate any containing pictures of children.
Donations can be placed in the mailbox by the church door in Market Street, or in the parcel box at the back door of the church, or given to a member of the congregation to pass on to me. Many thanks

OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS A835 KINKELL TO CONON
Resurfacing starting on Sunday 11 January. Lane closure with convoy between 8pm and 6am
MAJOR WORKS TO REPLACE RETAINING WALL ON THE A835 AT LOCH GARVE
Works start on Monday 26 January 2026. Single lane closure with two-way traffic lights in place until November 2026

HEBRIDEAN WHALE AND DOLPHIN TRUST
Over 100,000 whales, dolphins, porpoises and other marine megafauna recorded in Scotland’s seas. A record-breaking year for community marine mammal monitoring 2025 was a record-breaking year for the number of animals reported to the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT). Over 100,000 individual whales, dolphins, porpoises and other marine megafauna were recorded by members of the public and reported via the Trust’s app, Whale Track – representing the highest annual total ever reported.
It is important to note that this impressive figure is not a population estimate, Instead, it reflects the sheer number of animals that people were fortunate enough to encounter while spending time on and around Scotland’s seas.
