Bonfire Night and Winter Lights in 2025.

These events simply wouldn’t be possible without the local groups and individuals who rally together each winter, giving their time, energy and enthusiasm to make everything come alive. We are also extremely grateful to everyone who donated to help us continue running these community events year after year. And, of course, thank you to the many hundreds who come out in all weathers to enjoy them!

As we look ahead to 2026, our biggest thank-you goes to four incredible volunteers who are now taking a well deserved step back after more than a decade: Gordon and Carol Wink, Robert Hicks and Simon Eltringham. Along with Angie Ford and Mike Turner, they were the original team who dreamt up these events and, most importantly, made them happen. Since then, Robert, Gordon, Carol, and Simon have contributed invaluable knowledge, energy and countless voluntary hours to lighting up Ullapool each winter. We are hugely grateful for everything they have done. And we can surely all agree that the iconic creel tree has become a firm favourite, locally and across the globe!

We are delighted to have welcomed several new volunteers in late 2025, who have thrown themselves into learning the ropes with enthusiasm. With their support, we look forward to continuing to bring Ullapool both the Bonfire Night and the Winter Lights for years to come.

We hope that Robert, Gordon, Carol, and Simon will now be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the events in 2026 as much as we hope all of you will. We wish them very well and sincerely thank them, and also Mike and Angie, for all they have done for UFL, and our community, over the years.
