SEAFOOD SHACK UPDATE
Work has begun on the West Argyle Street site of the Seafood Shack. The original cabin which has been used to cook and serve delicious fresh seafood has been removed and a permanent building will replace it.
Outside seating will be maintained, but the new structure will provide a much enhanced working environment for staff. Congratulations to all involved with this very popular business which is such a great asset to the village.

Ardvreck Castle parking improvement works begin.

The Highland Council is set to deliver significant infrastructure improvements at Ardvreck Castle, one of Sutherland’s most iconic historic sites, to enhance visitor experience, improve road safety, and support sustainable tourism.
The project is set to begin on Monday 19 January 2026, for a duration of 10 weeks and the car park will be closed during this time. The layby parking will be carried out in phases; a limited amount of lay-by parking will be available throughout the works.
Located on the A837 and along the popular North Coast 500 route, Ardvreck Castle attracts thousands of visitors each year. Its dramatic setting overlooking Loch Assynt makes it a must-see destination, but the surge in traffic during peak season has led to congestion, informal parking, and safety concerns.
