Amazing News for Ullapool Museum
We are absolutely delighted to announce a major boost for our future development, with a combined £121,681 secured to support our commercial development ambitions.
A huge thank you to Museums Galleries Scotland for their generous £50,000 investment from the Innovation Fund with the Museums Future Programme, and to the The National Lottery Heritage Fund for awarding us £71,681 towards this exciting three-year programme

The Young Curators Club at Ullapool High School has been shortlisted for a prestigious Museums + Heritage Award. this is a highly competitive category,with hundreds of schools entering every year. This is a very significant achievement as they are the only secondary aged group to be included.

” I’m delighted to say that Hughie and the crew on Ajjur have successfully anchored at Crete, with their humanitarian aid for Gaza, despite the illegal seizure of boats near to them by Israeli ‘special’ forces. Owen was rescued from his boat Al Bassa after it encountered technical problems during the period of interceptions. Owen has also safely made it to Crete. The flotilla will continue, and while they wait for bad weather to pass both Hughie and Owen will be considering their options. To have come this far, from Sicily for Hughie and all the way from Barcelona in Owen’s case, under frequent hostile done observation, is already a very significant achievement…..
(Bryn goes onto explain) My experience was not so successful. At dusk on 29th April we observed the flashing green lights of six drones around us, and a frigate a mile or two away. Both briefly illuminated us with astonishingly bright lights, picking us out in the blackness. Our radio was jammed. Then as I steered the boat at 6kts towards Gaza 650 miles away, I saw behind us the white line of a wake – a boat approaching at high speed in the darkness. 4 us gathered on the deck of our small sloop (Idna, a Marchi 39, built in 1980, for those with an eye for such things) with our lifejackets on. It was concerning, but we had been trained to respond to such events – indeed any event – with disciplined non-violence, clear in our humanitarian purpose and our effort for equal human rights for all.
The rib pulled alongside, and we sat with our hands raised. Identifying themselves as Israeli military, they were heavily armed with automatic weapons, and masked.”
