Ullapool Teacher Wins Highland Secondary Teacher of the Year

Ullapool High School is celebrating after one of its teachers, Claire Cormack, was named Highland Secondary Teacher of the Year at this year’s Highland Heroes Awards.

Claire, who teaches Geography and is also Principal Teacher of Guidance, has been recognised for her outstanding commitment to young people and the wider school community.

Head Teacher Dr Lee Coutts said: “Claire’s commitment to knowing every young person and doing the right thing by them is exemplary. This award is incredibly well deserved and reflects the difference she makes to our school and community every day.”Everyone at Ullapool High School is immensely proud of Claire’s achievement and the recognition it brings to the school and the wider Ullapool community.

Poppy Scotland have just confirmed to us that the poppy collection Oct/Nov 25 organised by Lochbroom/ Ullapool Royal British Legion (Scotland) raised £1931.86.

Apologies re the delay in reporting the final total – it was  due to the increase in donations via debit cards and QRcodes which takes Poppy Scotland longer to allocate to each branches collection total.

Thanks to everyone who donated, business and individuals who took a collection tin and Elaine Boa at RBS who counted each individual cash tin (38 of them) for depositing Nov 2025
